On April 27, 2012, Detectives of the Lone Tree Police Department located two suspects associated with the white van. The suspects were identified by the victims of this case and taken into custody at 5:00 PM. The van was located in the Heritage Hills subdivision where the two suspects were working at a private residence.

Both suspects were taken into custody and later transported to the Douglas County Jail. Monte Greenwald was charged with Careless Driving and Harassment and Raymond Desrosiers was charged with Harassment.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident, however, the information has been provided to several law enforcement agencies in an attempt to identify if any possible similar events have occurred.

The Lone Tree Police Department would like to thank the community for their vigilance and the numerous tips that were provided to the agency for follow up. This incident shows how social media can be used to warn the public and also lead to successful apprehensions of suspected criminals.

On April 20, 2012 approximately 1130-1200am, two 11 year old girls were riding their bikes along Heritage Hills Pkwy and S. Shadow Hill Cir. One female stopped at the SW corner of the intersection. She observed a white cargo van approaching SB on Heritage Hills Pkwy from the stop sign.  The white van slowly approached her possibly driving onto the curb, and the passenger reached out the window to try to grab her.  The other female was about 5-10 feet away from her and saw the whole thing; the second female yelled.  This spooked the driver and they sped off out the gates to Heritage Hills exiting in an unknown direction.

Vehicle Description:
White cargo van, unknown plates, driver’s and passenger windows possibly tinted, no windows to the sides, black wheels, did not see hubcaps, double doors to the rear with windows and a white or silver handle, utility type roof rack-white in color with spikes on top.  There is a large dent to the passenger side of the vehicle towards the middle rear of the van, possibly rust or paint chipped on the dent.  No writing on the car, possibly a red/blk GMC emblem on the front of the car.

Driver:
Hispanic male-late 20’s, dark shirt, dark brown hair- chin length, wearing a baseball hat, possible mustache.

Passenger:
White male-over 40, white or grey hair, possible beard/mustache, bangs straight down on forehead covering a camo headband, back of hair was collar length, light colored shirt with blk vest over it, shirt sleeves were torn off about at shoulders, poss earrings, subject is missing several upper and lower teeth, described as having the front two but missing several to the sides and bottom, poss a gold tooth.

Consumers in the Lone Tree & Denver area are receiving official-looking forms that declare “You may be a plaintiff in a national mass joinder suit.”  The mailing implies that fraud may have occurred when you financed your home, and that the author of the mailing can assist you in seeking restitution.  The form explains that you might be eligible to “become a joined named plaintiff in a national lawsuit that will seek, among other things, to void your note(s), to give you your home free and clear, and/or to award you relief and monetary damages.”  In each case, the notice contains the name of the company that currently holds the mortgage on the recipient’s home.  While this may tend to provide credibility to the notice, that information is easily obtained from public records.

In order to determine if violations were committed by the consumer’s mortgage company, a $995.00 fee is required to generate a “violations report”.  The potential victim is assured that if no violations are found, their deposit will be refunded in full.

The District Attorney’s Office believes these mailings are a scam, and recommends that anyone receiving this mailing not respond.  The perpetrators are alleged to have copied another business’ website, and are using the phony website to collect fraudulent fees.  This is just another example of the need to investigate any offer or solicitation, no matter how legitimate it may appear.  In today’s world, you cannot depend on appearance alone to determine if something is legitimate.

9News of Denver visited a Lone Tree Walgreens and interviewed Pharmacist Lisa Condon about Flu shots.  The Center for Disease Control is advising that “everyone older than six months” get vaccinated this season.

“There was an issue last year. They ran out of flu vaccine, and so they want to make sure that everybody has the opportunity to get vaccinated,” Condon said.

William L. Walters, a former Lone Tree day-trader, has been extradited from Argentina to face charges in Colorado for running an illegal Ponzi scheme.

Dr. Grady Holder

Dr. Grady Holder, 52, blames alcoholism as he apologizes to Lone Tree nurse he stabbed at Sky Ridge Medical Center on February 13th.  The stabbing left Brenda Tate with wounds to her upper arm.

Prosecutors said that Dr. Holder was not responsible for his actions due to his disturbed mental state while receiving treatment for alcoholism in the Sky Ridge Intensive Care Unit.  Last week they announced that he would not face criminal charges.
